В статистике платежного баланса (balance of payments) - вид внешнеторговых услуг, который в методологическом руководстве МВФ определен следующим образом: "Если предприятие одной национальной экономики перерабатывает товары, принадлежащие другой национальной экономике, то стоимость товаров, пересекающих границу, вычитается из данной позиции товарной номенклатуры, а расходы на переработку включаются в эту позицию". Товары, ввозимые для переработки, отличаются от обычного импорта тем, что в праве собственности на них не происходит изменения между резидентом (см. residents of an economy) и нерезидентом. Такие товары должны быть реэкспортированы и не могут стать материальными ресурсами национальной экономики.
